Les Gones are back at Groupama Stadium. After a difficult start to the championship against Rennes, which ended in a 3-0 defeat last week, OL are expected to deliver for their first home game on Saturday, August 24. Facing AS Monaco, runner-up to PSG last season, the task looks set to be difficult, even if ASM did not really shine in their 1-0 victory against Saint-Etienne on the first day.
Unconvincing in Brittany and the author of a missed penalty, OL’s summer recruit, Georges Mikautadze, could be tempted to sound the Rhone revolt. At home, the Gones are also used to starting their season well. Over the last ten years, the Lyonnais have only conceded one defeat in their first match at the Groupama Stadium. To win, however, OL’s defense will have to be more solid than against Rennes, especially against a team from the Rock that has arguments on the offensive side, with the Swiss Breel Embolo and the American Folarin Balogun.
