“Once upon a time the Pas-de-Calais was liberated”, the program:
For the 5th consecutive year Haillicourt welcomes the reconstituted camp of the 36th edition of the Pas de Calais Liberated. From Thursday September 1 to Sunday September 4, 2022, at the foot of the twin slag heaps.
As part of the 78th anniversary of the liberation of our Region, Haillicourt and the Military Vehicles Association of Artois are organizing this commemoration with a gathering of military vehicles from the Second World War in the town of Haillicourt. Around 300 vehicles will travel the roads of our Region, accompanied by military bands.
Catering and exchange of military objects on site. Concerts offered on Saturday and Sunday at the camp.
Coming from several countries, it is in convoys that our liberators arrive on Haillicourt soil. “Once upon a time Le Pas-de-Calais liberated” makes us relive all these unforgettable moments. Many residents came to warmly welcome the troops. An unforgettable moment for all, because without these soldiers and without the support of civilians, we could not celebrate the liberation.
Following a perilous journey to reach our occupied France, the Allied troops set up camp in the town of Haillicourt, at the foot of the twin slagheaps of Fosse 6. This reconstitution of the camp at La Lampisterie, (another place in the haillicourtoise history), illustrates the lives of soldiers and civilians in breathtaking reality. No victory without music! It is with nearly 150 international musicians that we will also celebrate the liberation of Pas-de-Calais.
