LIVE: Canadiens v. Devils

The Canadian tries to end his four-game losing streak Saturday afternoon in New Jersey against the Devils.

Martin St-Louis’ men, who are currently experiencing their longest losing streak of the season, will have a lot to do against the young and dashing Devils.

17:50: GOAL! The Devils respond thanks to Ondrej Palat, who takes advantage of a juicy return granted by Jake Allen following Simon Nemec’s shot. 2-2

1ST PERIOD

20:00: End of period. Not a volley of shots. The Habs have 10, the Devils are limited to 5.

17:58: Nico Daws gives a juicy return, but Nick Suzuki cannot take advantage of it.

09:02: It’s the Habs’ turn to have a 2 against 1. Jake Evans’ delivery to Josh Anderson is superb, but Anderson’s shot is off target. Not chic.

07:28: Jack Hughes takes a dangerous shot, but Jake Allen remains solid in front of the CH cage

06:10: The Devils go 2 on 1, but Chris Tierney makes a questionable pass.

04:32: Joel Armia and Alex Newhook have a great attempt. But Newhook’s shot is harmless.

Jake Allen is the starting goaltender, while Johnathan Kovacevic takes Jayden Struble’s place on the blue line. The latter will be reassessed on a daily basis.

Even if the New Jersey team has had problems lately with only one victory in four games, we should never underestimate the striking force of Jack Hughes, who has 13 points in eight career games against CH.

The Devils will certainly want to take advantage of the Montreal team’s passage to relaunch their massive attack. Since January 19, they have scored just two goals in 46 attempts with a man advantage. The Canadian, who finds himself in 31st place in the National League short of one man, is the ideal opponent to allow the Devils to unlock.

Earlier this week, the Devils head coach criticized reporters for putting pressure on the team. “I imagine you asked every player that question […] you create additional pressure,” said Lindy Ruff regarding the issues of power play setbacks.
