Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin was not suspended for his action against Dallas Stars Tyler Seguin on Tuesday, but he will have to pay a $5,000 fine.

The sanction from the National League’s player safety service fell on Wednesday afternoon. The day before, Drouin received a major penalty and a game misconduct for hitting his rival when he was lying on the ice during a third period scrimmage. He struck cross-checks at the head of Seguin, who however completed the meeting.
Drouin will therefore be available for Thursday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Phillip Danault’s intensity is costing him a few bucks
With the Los Angeles Kings this season, Phillip Danault plays with an intensity that we did not know him. The former Montreal Canadiens, however, was punished by the National Hockey League’s player safety service, which imposed a $5,000 fine on Wednesday.
The Quebecer will have to pay the highest amount under the collective agreement for dangerously tripping Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point on Tuesday.
Danault had trouble with his opponent, whom he knocked down twice rather than once on the same sequence in the second period. The two men engaged in combat and each received a minor penalty and another for fighting.
The Lightning won that game 6-4, with Danault scoring his 10th goal of the campaign in a losing cause.
