The little Moroccan boy Rayan, stuck at the bottom of a well for five days in northern Morocco, is dead, the royal cabinet said in a statement on Saturday evening. “Following the tragic accident which claimed the life of the child Rayan Oram, His Majesty King Mohammed VI called the parents of the deceased, who died after falling into a well”, says the press release in Arabic.
The body of the 5-year-old boy was extracted from the tunnel which led to the pocket where he had been stuck since Tuesday, noted an AFP journalist. He was taken away in an ambulance, in the presence of his parents.
