Little Holiday Cooks | A hot chocolate with a touch of fantasy

Do the children want to participate in the preparations for the Holidays? Every week until Christmas, we offer you a simple and festive recipe that they can cook with the help of their favorite sous-chef. Today: a hot chocolate at the Turtles.

The best drink to enjoy when you come home with wet mittens, frozen nose and heart filled with pride at having built the most beautiful snowman? Hot chocolate, of course! And if we added a touch of fantasy? This is what chef Chanthy Yen offers with her very simple recipe for hot chocolate with Turtles.

The first time he served it was a few years ago when his nieces were visiting him in Montreal for the holidays. “I was not well prepared to receive children, admits the chef, who now lives in Ottawa and cooks for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. I had a Christmas tree, they had their presents, but I hadn’t thought about desserts and other treats. »

One evening, the girls asked him for a hot chocolate. “I was like, ‘Everything is closed. What do I do ?” Then he remembered the box of Turtles he had received.

Her nieces loved turning the treats into hot chocolate, recalls Chanthy Yen, who has repeated the experiment a few times since.

“I chose to suggest this recipe because it’s simple, fun and brings joy when you prepare it together,” explains the man who has a counter named after him at the Time Out Market in Montreal, where it offers a menu inspired by flavors from across the country.

Your child is not a Turtles fan? The recipe can be reproduced with the chocolate bar of your choice.
