Little girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert found, her mother arrested

Montreal police announce that the little girl whose disappearance led to the triggering of an Amber Alert on Tuesday was found safe and sound on Wednesday night.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) adds that the little girl’s mother, a young woman of 18, was also located.

The two people were found around 2:05 a.m. in an unspecified location in the borough of Saint-Laurent, in the northwest of Montreal.

The girl was in good health, according to police. As for his mother, she was placed under arrest and was to be questioned later Wednesday by SPVM investigators.

No further details were given by the police on the circumstances leading to the discovery of the two people and the lifting of the alert.

The girl was reported missing around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday from her maternal grandparents’ house located in the Lachine borough, in the southwest of Montreal. The grandparents noticed that she was not in her room at that time and that a window was open nearby.

The mother and father do not have legal custody of the girl, police said. The father was questioned to see if he had any contact with the mother, but he was not considered a suspect in the disappearance.
