The Lithuanians raised 14 million euros to offer tactical air surveillance radars to Ukraine, during a public quest which ended on the night of Friday February 24 to Saturday February 25. “At this crucial moment, we must do everything possible to ensure our support for the Ukrainian people”President Gitanas Nauseda said at a rally on the last day of the collection, which coincided with the first anniversary of the Russian invasion.

The money collected will allow the purchase of approximately 14 radars. “We did not expect such a result. This quantity will allow us to think strategically about where to deploy them”, said Jonas Ohman, one of the leaders of the initiative. Fundraising relied primarily on donations of 5 euros per phone call, but it was also powered by companies.

In May 2022, the Lithuanians had organized a first public quest, then intended to buy a Turkish military drone Bayraktar TB2 for Ukraine. They had collected more than 5 million euros in three and a half days.
