It is a duel which presents itself on Sunday in the second round of the legislative elections in the fourth constituency of the Dordogne. Sébastien Peytavie of NUPES and Jacqueline Dubois, outgoing MP from various centers supported by Ensemble!, are competing for the position of MP for the next five years. At the end of the first round, Sébastien Peytavie came out on top with 26.09% of the vote, just under 3,000 votes ahead of Jacqueline Dubois (20.31%).
The deviation of Beynac
Asked about the Beynac diversion, whose department still wants to complete the site by filing a new file despite the court order to destroy the bridge piers over the Dordogne, Jacqueline Dubois is extremely cautious: “I know that I cannot act on this subject, it concerns justice and the Departmental Council. I remain neutral on this. At the point where we are, it is useless to say if we are for or we are against. She who has long been openly opposed to deviation, she says: “On a personal level, I haven’t changed my mind deeply, but I understand that the situation is complex. It seems to me that the way to appeasement is not to oppose the desire of the Departmental Council to try to submit a new file”.
Sébastien Peytavie, who belongs to the ecologist pole of the NUPES as an activist of Génération.s, the party of Benoît Hamon, affirms: “There is a court decision, we stick to the court decision, period. If the Department wants to submit another project, let it propose it, if it fits the nails, it will be done. To have traveled for a month the markets of the constituency, we are not told about the question of Beynac”. A very nuanced position, to which he adds all the same: “What could be done many years ago without taking into account the ecological dimension or the adhesion of citizens, today it could no longer be done”.
Prohibit hunting on weekends and school holidays
“I oppose any legislative action on this point” assures Jacqueline Dubois. “Hunting is an important element of cultural heritage, and it is an important important element of population regulation [d’animaux sauvages] for agriculture”. It even ensures: “There may be days when you shouldn’t go to the forest, you can’t do without hunting today”.
The NUPES program, to which Sébastien Peytavie belongs, clearly indicates the alliance’s desire to ban hunting on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. The candidate is however much less clear on the question: “This is the program, these are discussions that are not welcomed in the same way in rural areas. There may be something to think about, in the morning the hunters, in the afternoon the families who want to go for a walk”he said, adding: “There are several problems with hunting, we have been able to see the number of deaths during the winter and we cannot not take that into account. There are weapons that shoot at 3 km, we have to regulate this side there”.

On the question of hunting as on others, Sébastien Peytavie assumes that he is not aligned with the program of the NUPES on all the proposals of the program of the alliance on the left. He will not pass all the laws: “We discover parliament and the discussions in Parliament, it’s extraordinary! But it’s true that we haven’t seen that for five years”he assures, reproaching Jacqueline Dubois “a charter which indicates that the government’s proposals” must be validated by parliamentarians Together!
