The Rogers Sports & Media network announced on Friday that the Canadian journalist would be in London to cover the events commemorating the death of the queen, her funeral and the transition to the accession to the throne of Charles III.

Colette Watson, president of Rogers Sports & Media, says LaFlamme’s talent and experience are a perfect fit for a newsworthy event “of this magnitude.”

In a written statement released by the company, the journalist said she was honored to help tell the story of the Queen’s life and legacy.

Lisa LaFlamme’s abrupt dismissal from CTV caused shock, with some arguing she may have been cast off based on her appearance, which Bell Media denied.

The longtime journalist says she was taken aback by the news, as Bell Media explained that the end of her contract after 35 years was simply a business decision to steer the role of newsreader in a “different direction “.
