Who is the author ?
Initially Renaud de Looze was not an agronomist, he was an electromechanical engineer. It is his passion for palm trees that led him to grow them. He creates a nursery, La palmeraie de Alpes where he sells some, then expands his range to other plants in the Mediterranean climate.
As he is very curious and loves research, he values his engineering training by conducting research on plant nutrition with the writing of an early version of urine, liquid gold in the garden , which he will enrich and republish in 2018.
The book
Is a practical guide intended primarily for the amateur gardener.
In the enriched edition, we find the complement of urine: compost.
There are tables and examples of calculations, but they do not make it difficult to read the book because the reader can completely leave them aside on first reading and return to consult them to deepen his knowledge later.
The book is pleasantly and abundantly illustrated with humorous drawings of “Avoine” as well as photos of the experiments carried out. It is also very informative but easy to read.
It is also a book which could surprise when it was first published by the choice of the subject and by certain advice which it lavished because it was then at the forefront, but today it is right in the news.
