Lions repatriate Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke

(Vancouver) The BC Lions have repatriated Canadian star quarterback Nathan Rourke after a two-season stint in the NFL.

The Lions confirmed the information on Tuesday.

Rourke, 26, was named the 2022 CFL MVP after completing 78.7 percent of his passes for 3,349 yards and 25 touchdowns in 10 regular-season games.

The quarterback from Victoria, B.C., also had 304 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground, despite being slowed by a foot injury.

Rourke signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2022 season and also played with the New York Giants, New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons before being cut by them on Sunday.

The Lions (5-4) got off to a strong start with former Montreal Alouettes player Vernon Adams Jr. at quarterback, but have since lost three straight games. Adams suffered a right knee injury in a 25-0 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 1er August, and he missed his team’s 33-16 loss to the Edmonton Elks on Sunday.
