By revealing the annual financial compensation that each athlete obtains, the Major League Soccer (MLS) Players’ Association recalled, Wednesday, that the famous star Lionel Messi, of Inter Miami, earns more than the whole players from most teams, including those from CF Montreal.
In the updated guide, we see that Messi enjoys an annual base salary of $12 million, but guaranteed compensation amounts to $20.45 million.
At CF Montreal, only one player earns a base salary in excess of $1 million, Victor Wanyama ($1.44 million), while all of the Montreal club’s players do not exceed the $10 million mark.
Across MLS, the second highest earner is Toronto FC’s Lorenzo Insigne, with a base salary of $7.5M and guaranteed annual compensation of $15.4M.
