Lionel Jospin returns to Cintegabelle to inaugurate a college in his name

At 85, Lionel Jospin was once again able to measure its popularity. L’former general councilor of the canton (88 – 2002) and deputy of Haute-Garonne (1988 – 97) was welcomed as a rockstar on Friday afternoon in Cintegabelle to inaugurate a college in his name. Several hundred people came to see the former Prime Minister and Minister of National Education from 88 to 92.

A building of 18.5 million euros, largely financed by the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne (€16.7 million) that departmental elected officials decided last May, following consultation, to appoint “Lionel Jospin”. The former Prime Minister was therefore present on Friday afternoon, delighted to return to “his” land. Many children did not know him but were happy to have a personality in their college.

400 students from 6th to 4th

The Cintegabelle college opened in a temporary establishment in September 2021 only for 6th graders. Since the start of the 2022 school year, it has hosted three levels of classes from 6th to 4th, i.e. a capacity of 400 students. An expected establishment, explains Sébastien Vincini, mayor of Cintegabelle and departmental councilor of the canton of Auterive.

The college is located at 101, Chemin de Laourède in Cintegabelle. The Departmental Council opened five colleges in 2022 (two in Toulouse, and three in Beauzelle, Seysses and Cintegabelle). Or an investment program for colleges of 350 million euros by 2027.
