The emotion was palpable on Friday September 2, 2022 at the Elysée Palace. Singer and actress Line Renaud was raised, at the age of 94, to the dignity of Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor, during a ceremony presided over by the Head of State, our President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. Surrounded by her friends and relatives, including her inseparable accomplice Dany Boon, but also Brigitte Macron, Claude Chirac, Jean-Luc Roméro or Muriel Robin, the great lady of French cinema was thus entitled to the highest republican distinction.
It is an honor that celebrates few French personalities. In recent years, the rank of Grand Cross in the order of the Legion of Honor has been awarded to Michèle Morgan and Michel Bouquet, to the painter Pierre Soulages, to the writer Jean d’Ormesson and to the philosopher Edgar Morin, who are each and every one of the essential entities in their field. Just like Line Renaud, who has shot in dozens and dozens of productions since 1946, and who recently appeared in the TV movie They love each other… well almost ! by Herve Brami. She is also featured in‘A great race with Dany Boon, who received an ovation at the Angoulême festival a few days ago.
