Lina Queyroi, Périgourdine at the Rugby World Cup

They will be four to get up very early in the Dordogne, this Saturday, October 8, 2022 in the morning. Lina Queyroi’s family will support this young rugby player, selected for his first World Cup. The three-quarter center or opener has made his debut at Peyzac, in the north of the department and on the border with Corrèze. The Bleues of the XV of France face South Africa for the opening match of the World Cup in New Zealand.

In Auckland, it will be 2:15 p.m. but in France eleven hours less, or 3:15 a.m.. But not enough to discourage the parents of Lina Queyroi and her two sisters, Chloé and Maylis, from watching the match in front of their television, in Jumilhac-le-Grand. “She worked a lot, this is the reward to see her get to that levelrejoices Laurent Queyroi, his father, necessarily very proud. It’s something huge.”

1st match in Blue a month ago

Lina Queyroi plays today at the Bagnac club, near Toulouse. On September 3, she was selected for the France team and played for the first time in Bleue, during the friendly match against Italy. Everything happened really fast for the native Périgourdine, as his father Laurent Queyroi says:

She really didn’t think she was [de la sélection au Mondial], maybe she had a little hope. For her, it was still too early: she was thinking more of the one in France in three years, than that one, in New Zealand. To be in the starting group already is something great. Then, it was her first World Cup but it was above all her first selections, in friendly matches against Italy: she left with the group [en Coupe du monde], it happened very quickly. We did not expect to see her at this level yet because she is young, she is only 21 years old.

Lina Queyroi is the fifth Périgourdine to reach the Worlds with the France team.
