Limoges Métropole offers precarious workers a bus subscription at 7.40 euros

For a few weeks, the president of the STCLM Jean-Marie Lagedamont, his services and the president of Limoges Métropole Guillaume Guérin have been thinking about a solution to fight against the rise in fuel prices. “Diesel at 2 euros 05 is absolutely not viable” believes the president of Limoges Métropole. This Wednesday, he announces a “boost operation”: the bus season ticket will be €7.40/month for employees earning the minimum wage or less.

A “boost” not doubled with a “fuel check” for the moment

This measure will come into effect on April 1. This will aim to support workers in precarious situations, “those who make the effort to go to work in the morning in the context of rising fuel prices“explains Guillaume Guérin. This operation was quick to set up, unlike the introduction of a “fuel voucher”. The elected officials and departments of the STCLM have thought about it. “But this measure is too long to put in place, underlines Guillaume Guérin, and above all, I am not sure of having the agreement of the distributors”.

It will therefore be a one-off aid that has been decided, a reduction of approximately 80% of the price of the subscription. According to the services of the STCLM, this should concern several thousand people. This preferential rate will aim to help precarious workers, but also to encourage, in this context of rising fuel prices, the use of public transport by a population far from public transport. This is called “modal shift”, which could affect several hundred people.

The operation is not destined to be eternal. It will end on July 31, 2022. “Depending on the prices at the pump, it may be renewed” warns Guillaume Guérin, the president of Limoges Métropole. This will cost 75,000 euros to the community.

How to benefit from it?

Those who are concerned must go to the TCL Commercial Agency (colloquially called “Point Bus”), with the latest tax notice which must attest to a net reference tax income of less than €13,728 (household of 1 person) or €20,580 (2-person household).
