Limoges CSP: for François Renaux, “we can have a lot of regrets about the start of the season”

While the Limoges CSP recorded a 4th defeat in 6 days of the championship on Saturday at Le Mans, former captain François Renaux, now a basketball consultant for France Bleu Limousin, gives his opinion on the start of the Limougeauds season.

I won’t go so far as to say it’s worrying

Limoges CSP already have 4 defeats and only 2 victories against Roanne and Le Portel who should play the maintenance this season. Are you worried about this?

No, I won’t go so far as to say it’s worrying. But we can have a lot of regrets at the start of the season. There is the accounting aspect but when we look in detail, we see that there are several meetings that we could have won. Nanterre, it was played to not much. We had come back to the match against Cholet. Against Le Mans, we are in a position to win the match and unfortunately, we made some gifts. At the start of the season, there have been a lot of missed opportunities.

It is difficult to have several players in good shape in a match

We still have the impression that there are real gaps. No leader of the trade and at the pivot position, not many people in relay of Grismay Paumier. What do you think ?

Yes, we have a little less rotations and we need everyone. So far, we have been able to count on certain players. I think especially of Nicolas Lang who has been playing like a metronome since the start of the season and like what he did last year. Regarding the other players, it’s more on alternating current. And it is difficult to have several players in good shape in a match at the same time. With this workforce, when we only have 2 or 3 players in the match, it is not enough to win.

This is what will allow us to maintain ourselves

The calendar is a trip to Boulogne-Levallois which is now an outsider in this championship, preceded by the reception of Dijon which is no longer the same team as in previous seasons. You absolutely have to beat the Burgundians to take some of the pressure off …

Yes. For the trip to Boulogne, we will have nothing to lose for once. We often made trips to Boulogne which were quite catastrophic. Enough to make the Limougeauds supporters laugh yellow. We will still try to win. We will really have to take the matches one after the other and not waste the ammunition that we can have. And if we can create a surprise in Boulogne, we must not deprive ourselves of it. After Dijon but more broadly all the home games, it will absolutely be necessary to give the maximum to get as much as possible. This is what will allow us to maintain and see hope for more for the future.
