Limoges CSP: discovering Yacine Aouadi, shadow coach of the limougeaud staff

For Yacine Aouadi, who arrived as a consultant to help Jean-Baptiste Maille to recover and then hired by the Limoges CSP, it is a real pleasure to continue his mission in Limousin. He is all the more happy because he always appreciates getting rich from coaches with a different culture. like this season with the Italian Massimo Cancellieri: “I find it super enriching. It’s different on management, on rigor, on tactical details. I haven’t necessarily seen this rigor with everyone. This is really its peculiarity. Be very rigorous on the tactical aspect. It’s very Italian in the end“.

Impressed by the daily work of Captain Nicolas Lang

Yacine Aouadi is the only coach in the elite of French men’s basketball with Joseph Gomis at ASVEL, in charge of individual player development. Over the past 10 years, he has had a lot in his hands. In particular the pivot of the Blues Rudy Gobert whom he took care of for a whole summer in the United States. This does not prevent it from being impressed by the individual work of Captain Nicolas Lang : “Nico has a very high level of requirement. And what I really like about him is that he still wants so much. He is never jaded, never intoxicated. Quite the contrary. He still has this desire to always be as efficient“.

I have the feeling that we are not far from having something with Youssef

When it comes to the progress of young players, he is happy. Whether it is the leader Tim Crusol since leaving Insep. But also of the Lebanese hope Youssef Khayat selected by his country at only 18 years old for the international window of the next month: “the will today is to get players out of the training center. I have the feeling that we are not far from having something with Youssef. There is still time. But the start of the championship is interesting. We feel that the kid is more mature in the approach to play and training. It’s funny to see the player evolve and change. It is more obvious than with a pro player. It’s great“.

A role also with the young people of the training center

Knowing that in Limoges, Yacine Aouadi is not just responsible for player development. He also takes care of scouting, observing both opponents but also players with a view to recruiting for the professional team and the training center where he also has a role: “it is also part of the missions that I have. Follow all the players we have at the training center. Observe their progress. Help Arnaud Tessier on a daily basis to develop these young players. The idea is to give feedback after each match with the coach, discuss it and try to adapt the content on a daily basis.

Manage my choices

Yacine Aouadi, whose family has remained in the Lyon region, gives body and soul to her daily mission at Limoges CSP. But for him and even if he learned from great coaches, there is no question of becoming a full-fledged coach. His thing is shadow work and human adventure with the players he accompanies throughout the year at Limoges CSP.
