Ligue 2 – Bordeaux: “I tried to restore order”, Clément Michelin explains his return to form

The future will tell if his fifth match under the colors of Bordeaux will have been the trigger. But this Monday at the Furiani stadium, Clément Michelin showed why the club had gone to look for him this summer at AEK Athens. This requires confirmation, of course, but the defender believes he is on the right track. Interview.

How do you feel after this draw?

Inevitably, we are a little frustrated by the result because we manage to score this goal which was very hard to score. Afterwards, on the face of the match, the draw is quite logical if we are realistic. We have this chance to score from a set piece so taking this free kick at the last minute is frustrating. We could also have made this small hole in the standings, but hey, we’re not breaking our series. There are still positives, now we have to quickly move on to something else.

The sooner we get to the top, the better. After the objective, it is above all to stay there all season and not to let go of this first place.

What did you miss to better control this meeting?

I think we got the balls out quite well, especially behind us. Afterwards we managed to find this pass to break the lines but there was a lot of loss of balls and we did not manage to put our attackers in the best conditions. He took a guy directly on the back. We missed this accuracy, this creativity in the last gesture.

On the other hand, the defense responds again very present?

We show real solidity behind. There were no mistakes, we were together, we hardly conceded any chances. In addition, we knew very well that with the supporters, it was going to grow. I think we showed solidarity and that’s very positive.

Does this first place in the standings represent something?

Yes, of course, it is important because we have ambitions. The sooner we get to the top, the better. After the objective, it is above all to stay there all season and not to let go of this first place.

When you arrive at a new club, you want to quickly prove

Personally, is this your best game?

Yes I’m happy. I had to answer now. I made small mistakes at the start and it hurt my confidence a bit. But now I’m starting to take my bearings and gain momentum. I have everyone’s support and it feels good. I free myself, I’m happy with my match but if it sucks at the end to take this goal.

The side admits coming out of a complicated season in Greece.

Why did you struggle in the first games?

There are several factors. Already there is this pressure when you arrive at a new club, you want to prove quickly. So, making one or two small mistakes, you can quickly lose confidence. Afterwards, you have to be patient, especially since I had a complicated preparation. It was not easy to leave Greece with a difficult last season. There were a lot of things but I tried to put things in order and now we are moving forward.

Are set pieces a real specialty?

I shot them quite a bit at Lens, the same with the Toulouse reserve with Denis Zanko (the current assistant to David Guion). He knew very well my quality there and we work a lot today. It’s good, I’m happy because it pays. In addition, we have size in the team, we can be very dangerous in these game situations.
