Ligue 1 – A jostled Stade Rennais continues its incredible streak in Lorient (0-2)

They are unstoppable. Yet put in difficulty by FC Lorient, the players of Stade Rennais have once again carried away this Sunday, November 28, 2021, for the 15th day of Ligue 1 (0-2). A thirteenth game in a row unbeaten, extending the club’s longest streak in the 21st century.

The inevitable Gaëtan Laborde allowed his teammates to free themselves in this meeting. The striker scored his 9th goal in Ligue 1 at the end of the game (75th) on a low time for the Red and Black. In a copy and paste of his goal against Mura, the Landais resumed a keeper parry on a long shot from Baptiste Santamaria.

A historical series

In just three minutes, the returning Jeremy Doku goes on and scores the second goal (78th). It all starts with a (very) long cross-section by Nayef Aguerd. The ball crosses the field from one corner to the other and Jérémy Doky, alone, dribbles a defender before hitting and deceiving the goalkeeper. What proves that he is back, after three months away from the field due to an injury.

The Red and Black have yet experienced a first half far from being so simple. Jostled by FC Lorient, we are not far from the phases of domination seen a few weeks before against Lyon or Montpellier. The absence of Flavien Tait, left at rest, is felt and the match is very balanced between two teams yet in opposite dynamics.

But the essential is done for Stade Rennais. While the team struggled to win away in Ligue 1, the Rouge et Noir signed an important success for the points and the standings. Second in Ligue 1, the Bretons continue to impress and sign one of the best series in their history.
