Connor Brown, new captain Brady Tkachuk and Logan Shaw responded for the Senators, who lost a second straight game.

Brian Elliott secured the win with 24 saves for the Lightning. Matt Murray blocked 29 pucks for the Ottawa Troop.

Stamkos broke a 2-2 tie halfway through the third period with his sixth goal of the season. He was left alone near the net and he jumped on a loose puck to thread the needle.

Palat hit the target with less than two minutes to go and Cirelli added a goal into an empty net.

Shaw closed the gap for the Senators with only 16 seconds left, but it was already too little, too late.
