After three weeks of an intense trial for the family of Maëlys, the indictment fell, Thursday, February 17, in the trial of Nordahl Lelandais. The maximum sentence was requested: life with a safety period of 22 years. Journalist Nathalie Perez is live from the Grenoble Courthouse (Isere) to take stock of the situation.
The indictment was marked by the very harsh words of the Advocate General before the Assize Court of Isère, Thursday, February 17. “For more than two hours, in a scathing indictment, the Advocate General endeavored to demonstrate the great danger of Nordahl Lelandais. ‘You may not be a serial killer,’ he said, ‘but you’re a psychopath, and psychopaths don’t change, that’s why I’m asking for life upon release. 22 years of safety'”says journalist Nathalie Perez live from the Grenoble courthouse (Isere).
In the room, Maëlys’ parents agree and Nordahl Lelandais is like frozen in the box. “This afternoon, his lawyer tried to humanize him. ‘He’s not a monster, he’s a human being and for four years he has changed, he has evolved,’ he said, then turns to the jurors: ‘He knows he’s going to be sentenced to a heavy sentence but don’t forget that every man needs hope’. The verdict is expected tomorrow“, concludes the journalist.
