This is a typical reality of a super-minister from the economic milieu: when he is in power, he imposes “his” visions and “his” program, takes up all the political space, leaving little room for discussion and collaboration. Imbued with his “power” as a super-businessman, he is ultra-sensitive to criticism, because in “his” field, he is always right… This is no longer politics, it is simply the taking over of politics by “economic” pretension. His loyalty to the party caucus is relative, because he navigates alone ahead and above.
And then, when political criticisms pile up to undermine his dominant stature, due to lack of transparency, dialogue and collaboration, he suddenly jumps ship in the middle of his mandate, imposing the additional “non-economic” costs of another by-election on citizens, in order to return to his usual golf courses, hunting grounds and boards of directors… The Coalition avenir Québec has lived off its super-minister, now it must come back down to earth, to its usual political deficiencies. While its former super-minister rebuilds his financial portfolio, far from the National Assembly and all this political “mediocrity”, which is decidedly not of “his” caliber…
