(Quebec) The Liberal MP for Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Frédéric Beauchemin, denies the allegations of psychological harassment made against him and members of his team.
In a message on the X network, Mr. Beauchemin affirms that the complaint, which would have been made by the president of the youth wing of the party, Élyse Moisan, is unfounded.
He was reacting to the report from Quebec Journalaccording to which Mme Moisan would have felt harassed, intimidated and threatened by Mr. Beauchemin’s team.
“The complaint against me is unfounded. There is a process for hearing it and understanding the context. We will collaborate fully on this. I have confidence that he will be able to set the record straight,” declared the elected official.
According to him, the current situation is a “symptom of the crisis affecting the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ)”.
“The Youth Commission, like other party bodies, is paralyzed by the absence of clear direction. Activists […] want the party to rebuild itself, not to tear itself apart,” he maintained.
Frédéric Beauchemin is so far the only one to have demonstrated an interest in the leadership of the PLQ.
Called to react Thursday evening, the interim leader of the PLQ, Marc Tanguay, limited himself to saying that these were “important allegations.”
“We will respect the processes on such occasions. We will not make any further comments at this time,” he said in a written statement sent to The Canadian Press.
“We have no comment to make on this,” said the press secretary of the PLQ Youth Commission, Charlie Bourdages.
She indicated that Mme Moisan would not grant an interview on Thursday evening
