Liberal Marie Montpetit publicly criticizes Gaétan Barrette

Liberal MP Marie Montpetit publicly criticized her colleague Gaétan Barrette for making unproductive comments about the government’s negotiations with general practitioners.

In a message sent on her Twitter thread, Ms. Montpetit, spokesperson for health, released a statement that Mr. Barrette made on Tuesday on the same platform.

” Dear [Gaétan Barrette], this tweet is as unproductive as the authoritarian attitude and threats of [François Legault]. We would all gain from a change of tone towards health professionals who have been carrying the network at arm’s length since the start of the pandemic, ”she wrote on Wednesday.

The day before, Mr. Barrette, who was Minister of Health from 2014 to 2018, himself commented on the words of the president of the Federation of general practitioners of Quebec, Louis Godin.

” Understood [toutes] interviews with Dr. Godin. He says the same words as in 2015 [quand] he had undertaken to register 85 [pour cent] pop and pass his [membres] adapted access, a mode of practice by which one sees one’s MD in [trois jours]. Do not believe it! PS 2000 ago [médecins de plus] since 2009 ! “

Mr. Barrette preferred not to comment on Ms. Montpetit’s comments about him.
