LFI “sullies and tramples the Palestinian fight for electoral purposes”, denounces Léon Deffontaines

If the head of the communist list in the European elections believes that “the rupture” is “consummated” with La France insoumise, he makes an exception for François Ruffin whom he invites to support his list.

“Rebellious France is soiling and trampling on the Palestinian fight for electoral purposes. I will never forgive them,” reacts Thursday April 25 on franceinfo Léon Deffontaines, head of the communist list in the European elections.

The communist candidate says “uncomfortable with the positions of rebellious France”. “Breaking” with LFI “is consumed”, he continued. “When I see them flouting the Palestinian issue just for electoral purposes, I think it’s a problem”judged the 28-year-old communist candidate. “Like the majority of French people, I do not want to be associated with La France insoumise, with the comments and the drift that it has had in recent years,” he pointed out.

Tuesday, the head of the Insoumis deputies Mathilde Panot announced that she had been summoned by the police for “apology of terrorism”. A summons in connection with a press release from his parliamentary group after the Hamas attacks against Israel on October 7 which had sparked controversy due to LFI’s refusal to qualify as “terrorist” the Palestinian Islamist movement. A few days before the summons of Mathilde Panot, the LFI candidate for the Europeans Rima Hassan also received a similar summons.

The opportunity for Léon Deffontaines to recall the rejection in May 2023 of the proposed resolution at the initiative of the communist deputy Jean-Paul Lecoq, “condemning the institutionalization by the State of Israel of an apartheid regime”. A text that Mathilde Panot had not signed, just like the deputy for the North Adrien Quatennens. “If they were really committed to the Palestinian cause as I have been for several years, they would have committed to our side well before and not only during the elections”castigated the former leader of the Young Communists.

François Ruffin embodies “the left of work” which he defends

The head of the communist list in the European elections reiterated his desire to “raise social issues” the priority of his campaign, while“on the left, it boils down to an issue around Ukraine, others around Palestine.” “I want this labor left to take up as much space as possible,” he defends. “A Labor Left” embodied by the Insoumis deputy of the Somme François Ruffin, according to Léon Deffontaines, originally from Amiens. “I think that François Ruffin would have much more to do, to support the list that I have the honor of leading from the labor left than that of France Insoumise”he believes.

According to a study by the Cluster 17 institute, revealed by ReleaseFrançois Ruffin, appears better placed than Jean-Luc Mélenchon if the left unites for the 2027 presidential election, arriving in the second round with 29% of the votes, one point behind Marine Le Pen. “There is nothing surprising in the fact that he surpasses Jean-Luc Mélenchon. I see the work he does as a deputy and ultimately, he finds himself quite in line with me”explained the communist candidate in the European election of June 9.
