The LFI deputy for Isère Hugo Prevost, excluded Tuesday from the rebellious parliamentary group for “serious acts of a sexual nature”announced his resignation on Wednesday October 9. “I appreciate the seriousness of the accusations made against me. I have defended myself against them. I will not respond to them publicly,” writes the elected official in a press release, who judges that“no personal destiny should hinder our collective tools”.
The parliamentary group of La France insoumise announced on Tuesday its exclusion for “serious acts of a sexual nature which may amount to criminal offenses, prior to his election”. The group explained, in a press release, that it had made this decision after hearing Hugo Prevost, justifying this sanction by “the seriousness of the alleged acts and their systemic nature”.
Hugo Prevost says to take “act of the decision of the group La France insoumise – New Popular Front”. At the time of his election, he said he was not “unaware of the existence of the accusations which are now being brought against [sa] awareness”. The Student Union union, which the MP co-founded, also relayed accusations in a press release, evokingare “acts of moral and sexual harassment, patterns of predation”.
The Ecologists and the PS in Isère, as well as his deputy, called on Wednesday for his resignation. The Grenoble public prosecutor’s office specified for its part that it had not received “no trace of complaint” concerning the MP while the announcement of the exclusion provoked numerous reactions. Former minister Olivier Véran, beaten by Hugo Prevost during the legislative elections following the dissolution, demanded a “investigation”.
