More than half of French people consider that La France insoumise is dangerous for democracy, ahead of the National Rally whose image is constantly improving, according to a survey published Tuesday October 10.
Some 57% of French people think that LFI is dangerous for democracy compared to 52% for the RN, according to the annual “French fractures” survey Ipsos/Sopra Steria for Le Monde, Cevipof, the Jean-Jaurès Foundation and the Montaigne Institute .
The party of Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, which is continuing its institutionalization strategy, benefits from an increasingly positive judgment among those surveyed. Thus, 61% thought that the RN was dangerous for democracy in 2020, then 56% in 2021 and 54% in 2022.
LFI, a party which “stirs up violence” for 60% of French people
The RN is seen as increasingly capable of governing the country: 44% of French people surveyed consider them ready, a clear increase compared to last year (39%) or even compared to 2020 (32%). On this question, LFI peaks at 28%, and only Les Républicains do better (48%).
The National Rally is perceived as far-right by 66% of French people (-4 points compared to 2022), and as xenophobic by 50% (-2 points). And it is seen as close to the concerns of the French by 40% of respondents, or 3 points better than a year ago.
Unlike the RN, the image of LFI is deteriorating. Asked whether La France insoumise would be a party “who fuels violence”60% of French people respond “Yes” against 52% for the far-right party.
