La France insoumise and the Socialist Party announced, Wednesday June 12, that they had found a “agreement” on the distribution of constituencies between the left-wing parties, with a view to the early legislative elections. According to LFI deputy Paul Vannier, the distribution, which does not include Overseas and Corsica, was recorded at the end of a long night of negotiations, very early Wednesday morning.
The PS confirmed this “agreement in principle” in a letter to members, Wednesday at midday. LFI will have 229 candidates, the PS 175, EELV 92 and the PCF 50, specify socialist leaders Pierre Jouvet and Sébastien Vincini.
In parallel with the negotiations on constituencies, discussions on a common program have also been underway since Tuesday between the different left-wing parties. The PS specified in the letter to its members that this “essential work (…) is still under discussion” and that there will be no “no concession on our values”.
