LFI and EELV file an appeal against the 2024 Olympic Games law before the Constitutional Council

The deputies denounce a law “liberticide and security” and demand the censorship of the text.

The deputies of the groups La France insoumise (LFI) and Europe Écologie-Les Verts (EELV) filed an appeal on Monday before the Constitutional Council on “the entire bill relating to the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2024”. They denounce a law “liberticidal and safe“, And “manifestly contrary to several principles of constitutional value” in a press release published by LFI. They ask for the censorship of the text.

The two groups notably target several provisions enshrined in the bill: “The legalization of algorithmic video surveillance, the possibility of carrying out the examination of genetic characteristics without the consent of the person, the creation of new offenses related to entry into sports venues or the additional mandatory penalty of stadium ban.

The bill relating to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games was finally adopted on April 12 in the Senate.
