Hamilton is smiling again. The Briton won his first Grand Prix of the year, at Silverstone in Great Britain, on Sunday July 7. On home soil, the Mercedes driver took the lead of the race with about ten laps to go, and never let it go. Although he saw Max Verstappen gradually move up the places, Lewis Hamilton did indeed secure his first victory since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, on the Jeddah circuit in December 2021.

In front of their home crowd, the day’s winner and his compatriots Lando Norris and George Russell took turns at the front of the race, although Max Verstappen was never far behind. The Dutchman eventually finished second, ahead of Lando Norris, and failed to win his eighth Grand Prix of the year.

George Russell, who won qualifying on Saturday, had a good start to his race but was forced to retire with less than 20 laps to go. Among the French, Pierre Gasly threw in the towel on the first lap, while Esteban Ocon finished in 16th place.
