(Lévis) The performance hall of the Vieux Bureau de Poste, in Lévis, will benefit from an expansion, thanks to financial assistance from Québec and Ottawa.
The governments of Canada and Quebec will invest more than $4.6 million, in particular to increase the capacity of the hall from 100 to 150 seats.
The stage and dressing rooms will be renovated as part of this work.
The Minister of Culture and Communications, Mathieu Lacombe, and his colleague responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches region, Bernard Drainville, were present in Lévis to make the announcement at a press conference.
Quebec and Ottawa will both invest more than $2.3 million in the project, while the City of Lévis will add just over $2 million.
According to the governments, these renovations will also make it possible to highlight the heritage building which dates from 1929.
“This former post office is a building remarkable for its architectural signature which bears witness to all the preservation efforts over time. Today, in addition to being part of our rich heritage, this magnificent place fulfills a future-oriented cultural vocation,” said Minister Lacombe in a press release.
