In France, most farmers and gardeners have lost their autonomy and their know-how in terms of seeds and plants, in favor of an ultra-specialized commercial sector. And so an impoverishment of biodiversity is increasingly felt.
The objective of theCBD associationcreated in 2009 by AgroBio Poitou-Charentes and the CIVAMs of the region, it is clear, simple: ssave, promoteand develop thecultivated biodiversity .
And the association is not “reserved” for professionals.
Currently, it has more than 350 members, breeders, cereal growers, market gardeners for the most part of course, but also gardeners and simple amateurs. If you are interested, you can join and attend work meetings, conferences, and especially training workshops and experiments.
For example, you can spend a “wheat/legume” day, attend experiments “on maize and fodder”, train yourself in “tomato plans” ortaste vegetables and breadsaccording to different varieties of hardy seeds, to realize what we have lost.
Other events are organized throughout the year: days of seed and plant exchanges and then of course THE festival of the CBD association, organized each autumn in Vienne, on a different farm each time. This festival is an opportunity for everyone to discover the actions of farmers on seeds and the search for hardy plants adapted to the context of the 21st century. And to understand that faced with a standardized market, everyone can do something to prevent the loss of biodiversity.
For information, know that the association has just settled in the third place le Clou in the upper town of Chauvigny. She is waiting for you.
