It seems crazy that even today, in 2022, we don’t bother to pick up our waste, which we still throw away in the middle of nature or on the roads, plastic bottles, cigarette butts, sometimes still lit, car batteries, bicycles, washing machines and others. Obviously, not everyone has yet understood that such gestures pollute and have a strong impact on our environment, but on top of that, it costs us all. Let’s not forget, as Alison Chauveau, nature animator at the Maison de la Loire, points out, that Loire water is what we drink every day! Plastic microparticles interfere in all living thingswhich is extremely worrying among other things, because of the endocrine (hormonal) disruptors they contain and which are among the major causes of cancer in humans, but they also impact wildlife which is already highly weakened.
A cigarette butt requires 12 years to decompose and it releases toxins throughout the process….
Let’s do like the animals, let Nature as we found it!
The Maison de la Loire invites you to meet its team for a waste collection operation on the banks of the Loire in Montlouis sur Loire on Saturday October 8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
