The Eternal Summer is the third collaboration of the Montreal creative duo Les Ensembliers with the French luxury fabric and wallpaper house Brunschwig & Fils, from Kravet. It is also the culmination of a creative process begun in 2017, which here comes to fruition and what its creators consider to be their most beautiful collection to date.
Almost 10 years ago, the duo knocked on the door of decoration giant Kravet, in New York, to offer their services. “We had to be ambitious and very naive,” agrees architect Maxime Vandal, who forms a creative duo with his life partner, designer Richard Ouellette.
The audacity will have borne fruit: they won a first contract in these major design leagues, where there are mainly prestigious signatures and star international decorators. Before them, the Brunschwig & Fils sector had only collaborated with a former decorator of the White House under Barack Obama… Some of the fabrics created as part of this first collection of fabrics and trimmings, which appeared on the list of Best New ProductsArchitectural Digestare now among the fashion house’s classics.

Two collections later, Les Ensembliers offer a range of luxury fabrics inspired by their memories of travels to the south of France: “Its old patinas, its worn walls, its colors weakened by the sun…, describes the designer. We wanted an aesthetic that had already had the wear and tear of time and which emanates an art of living in simplicity and relaxation. »
The duo transposes this aesthetic – its colors, textures and patterns – into the context of their farm in the Eastern Townships. The performance fabric collection features earthier, more saturated and muted tones than what we are used to seeing in ranges designed for the garden. It combines shades of brown, charcoal and black with other, more radiant shades of soft coral or sky blue. This mixture of influences ensures that the refined result finds an identity of its own.
Built to last through four seasons, The Eternal Summer finds its place on a living room sofa as a patio furniture, in hot weather as well as in winter.
The collection is sold to a clientele composed mainly of people in the design world, in Kravet showrooms internationally. Les Ensembliers choose to democratize their collection and open it to a wider clientele through their online store, La Ferme Humminghill, which brings together the signatures of local artisans. The duo offers nine cushions designed from fabrics from The Eternal Summerand which were handmade in Montreal.
