Most food categories have their equivalent in low sugar. These products are becoming more widely consumed, but with a sometimes significant price difference for the consumer.
Products are sold in specific departments, we would buy them with our eyes closed, reassured by certain claims found on the packages. But on closer inspection, unpleasant surprises are often present. Starting with the price, which increases for low-sugar products. A boon for professionals in the sector.
Price differences
For supermarkets, this is an opportunity to sell these low-sugar products that are more expensive than their counterparts in the traditional aisle. “Manufacturers are opportunists. And consumers who want healthy products are generally willing to pay a little more for them”, explains Olivier Dauvers, specialist in mass distribution.
