L’Espérance III finally sails and attracts all eyes on Lake Annecy

Its two masts and its flat wooden hull have been attracting all eyes for the past two weeks on Lake Annecy (Haute-Savoie). L’Hope IIIis the replica of a lateen sailing boat which until 1930 transported goods from Doussard at Annecy by the lake.

A silent and magical discovery of the lake

The reconstruction of this boat steeped in history by two naval architects lasted two years in a hangar in the Cran forges. Launched a year ago (June 2021), the Espérance III and above all the eponymous association which manages it and carried out its construction with its volunteers, obtained the last authorizations in July to sail with the public. Since August 1, the old rig can take 35 people, by reservation, on an unprecedented discovery of the lake and its mountain setting.

The symbol of Lake Annecy

From the shore or on the water, all eyes converge on the Espérance III when the boat spreads its wings. And nothing can please the volunteers of the association more than this recognition which, it is the objective, must make Espérance III the symbol of Lake Annecy, its culture, its history, its heritage and its environment to be protected.

From the start of the school year, school children will embark in turn to appropriate their history and pass it on in turn.
