They trembled for a long time, before imposing themselves. Paris Saint-Germain players battled to get the better of Sweden’s Häcken in the first leg of the Champions League play-off on Wednesday, September 21, at Jean-Bouin. The Parisiennes were delivered by a goal from Kadidiatou Diani at the very end of the game (86th), under the eyes of Kheira Hamraoui in the gallery, just re-instated.

The launch of the European campaign promised to be rather easy on paper for the Parisiennes, but their lack of juice, and sometimes of accuracy, complicated their task against opponents with a much lower pedigree, and so little dangerous. At home, they have long been held in check, Marika Bergman-Lundin having replied in the 24th minute to the opener signed Lieke Martens (14th).
It took until the 86th minute of an unexciting encounter to see Kadidiatou Diani offer victory to his family, with a well-felt header from a cross from Ashley Lawrence. The semi-finalists of the last edition will have to raise the level of requirement, Wednesday, September 28 during the return leg in Gothenburg, to enforce their status and avoid an embarrassing sporting disappointment. In the event of qualification, they would thus join Olympique Lyonnais, already qualified for the group stage as defending champions.
