Juggling with sounds
It’s been twenty years since Pitt Ocha was born between the nimble fingers of the Ogres of Barback. In two decades, this musical show for young audiences has produced four albums. The latest, released in 2022, tells the stories of Pitt Ocha and the sound-powered bicycle. A journey into the world of childhood with texts always centered on humans.
Gathered on the stage in a joyful bazaar of brass, strings and drums, all the instruments lead the dance. Objects and instruments that offer the public an real sound and visual spectacle. “We are fans of instruments and arrangements with instruments but also with invented things. We juggle with noises”, explains Alice Burguiere. Among the Ogres’ latest discoveries, this monochord by Poussot. A very rare musical instrument that looks like a funny keyboard with a side string.
Music with the family
The Ogres of Barback is first and foremost a family story. That of the family Burguiere. Sam, Fred, Alice and Mathilde, qfour brothers and sisters from Ardèche passionate about music from here and elsewhere. Their repertoire, largely imbued with cosmopolitan influences, makes sounds and stories swirl. And as the family has continued to grow, in recent years, Léo, the youngest, has joined the group.
These brilliant and inventive music artisans bring their traveling show to meet spectators, young and old. After the winter break, the Ogres will return in the spring in a number of cities until summer 2024.
