Oceanographers
March 8 & 9 at Malraux Chambéry
Anita Conti, alias the lady of the sea, was therefore the France’s first female oceanographer, but also one of the pioneers in environmental matters.
Through the portrait of Anita Conti emerges that of a known and yet mysterious entity: the ocean. In 1952, Anita Conti, the one nicknamed “the lady of the sea”, embarked on a trawler to share the lives of cod fishermen for six months with her camera and sixty men. Through her pictures and her testimonies, she became one of the first whistleblowers for the protection of the oceans. The music of Julie Normal, one of the few onde Martenot performers in the world, accompanies and overwhelms the viewer. The first electronic instrument of the early 20th century, the onde Martenot serves the performance of the two actresses on stage by creating a chanting and time-distorting effect.
