The days after : this is how Sound Nights present this new edition of their festival. A return to a classic event, after a special year 2021 which had to adapt to the sanitary conditions of the moment. To mark its big comeback during the Ascension weekend, from Wednesday May 25 to Sunday May 29, the Nuits Sonores have planned a complete program, loaded with artists in its 19th edition.
Sound nights takes place over four long days, on different sites including the industrial site of the Former Fagor-Brandt factories, which has become, since 2017, the flagship location of the festival. First we have the four Days, from Wednesday to Saturday, which will be organized around three stages: concert and live for the main one, hybrid performances and 360° video for another, and finally a soundsystem as an urban dancefloor.
The little program nights-sonorian don’t stop there. Because the Days will be followed by Nights With: an essential program of the festival, co-programmed by iconic artists from the electronic scene who will compose for 4 nights: Honey Dijon, Helena Hauff, Dj Harvey or even Lala&ce.
At a time of the return of war in Europe and the tragedy of history, this was an opportunity for the organizers to launch the debate on behalf of the field of culture. It is on the occasion of Lab des Nuits Sonores, a complementary program to the event which, over four days, will offer festival-goers the opportunity to take part in conferences or workshops on different themes. Particularly in connection with news related to international issues, including the war in Ukraine.
“With the new NS Lab program, Nuits sonores intends to forcefully raise this question, while reaffirming the major role of club cultures, the dancefloor and more generally of the independent cultural sector in social and cultural transformations”explains Laurent Bigarella, NS Lab programmer. “We want to be a space for dialogue, a place of meeting and empowerment that is part of a reverse vision of a depoliticized culture, impervious to its environment, purely hedonistic. For 4 days, this program will offer festival-goers is a new complementary experience.”
Conferences, interviews as well as round tables will be present to allow the social debate between artists and public. A priority for programmers. “With NS Lab, the debate of ideas, the transmission and the testimony come to increase the musical programming of Nuits sonores through meetings, artistic performances, training and masterclasses and other speeches. At the heart of Nuits sonores, NS Lab is a sounding board and a place of connection between local communities and European cultural personalities.A collective space to not remain alone in the face of the tragedy of History.An event to (re) put political voice at the heart of the artistic arena.
