This adaptation of Christian Signol’s novel, directed by Fabien Onteniente, which we find here in a completely different register than usual, is a real tribute to resistant France in the magnificent landscapes of the Dordogne.
Synopsis
In 1942, in the Dordogne department, the demarcation line crossed the course of the river.
The Laborie farm is a stone’s throw away and Virgile, listening only to his heart, never refuses his boat to those who try to cross into the free zone.
And when Virgile and Blanche, who have never been able to have children, are asked to hide Sarah and Simon, two Jewish children lost in the turmoil, they welcome the little refugees like a gift from heaven.
Over the days, unbreakable bonds are forged between them, despite the incessant checks, betrayals and denunciations.
With Mathilde Seigner (Blanche), Gérard Lanvin (Virgile), Philippe Torreton (Doctor Dujarric), Danièle Lebrun (Mme Weisemann), François Bureloup (Le Trochu), Cyril Lecomte (Mr Lespinasse), Sophie Guillemin (Mme Lespinasse), Wolfgang Pissors (Officer), Héléna Soubeyrand (Dora), Anton Von Lucke (Werner)
