New blow for the Bleues of the XV of France. After losing to Australia last week, the French suffered a second loss in a row against Canada, by the same score (20-29), Saturday November 4 in Auckland (New Zealand), for their last match of WXV, new international tournament. A disappointing victory when the Blues had largely beaten them (36-0) during the match for third place in the World Cup almost a year ago.
A disappointing 5th place
Although they entered the game well with a try from Pauline Bourdon Sansus (14th) and leading to the break (10-7), the Blues fell back into their ways, showing indiscipline and irregularity. The Canadians did not waver and continued the attempts with Emily Tutossi (35th) and Krissy Scurfield (tests in the 43rd and 51st).
Despite a second French try, scored by Marine Ménager (57th), the French made too many mistakes (12 penalties conceded in total) and approximations to hope for victory. After the defeat against Australia, France lost once again in the competition. An unexpected defeat after the historic success against the Black Ferns 15 days ago (18-17), reigning world champions. For this first WXV in history, the XV of France finished in a disappointing 5th place. The final victory will be played between England and New Zealand, who face each other on Saturday.
