Les Bleues shattered their glass ceiling, with a well-tempered kick from Eve Périsset. France won 1-0 against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of Euro 2022, on a penalty in extra time, Saturday July 23 in Rotherham (England). After failing at this stage in 2009, 2013 and 2017, Les Bleues have finally passed their cleaver stage.
For their fourth match at New York Stadium in Rotherham, the Habs quickly imposed intense pressure on the European champions. More aggressive and quicker in transition than their opponents, the French women largely dominated the match. Delphine Cascarino, Sandie Toletti, Melvine Malard and Grace Geyoro offered a real attacking festival without managing to beat Batavian goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar. Less timid in the second half, the Oranje in turn made the Habs tremble.
Salvation finally came from a penalty obtained in extra time by Kadidiatou Diani and shot with authority by Eve Périsset (102nd). Les Bleues will meet Germany in the semi-finals, Wednesday July 27, at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.
