Glasses to help the visually impaired and a shower to reduce water consumption: these two innovations will appeal to the public at the Paris Fair, Saturday May 11.

This year, the winner of the Lépine competition helps the visually impaired. Rémi du Chalard has succeeded in creating glasses capable of retransmitting an image perceived using a sensor. An innovation that could help the visually impaired. “The belt will actually draw images on the skin of the back”, he explains. In France, nearly 1.7 million people suffer from a visual disability; this invention promises renewed autonomy, without a white cane.

Gain credibility and visibility

There is still so much to invent in the field of disability. Last year, the Lépine competition rewarded wheelchair wheels that could reduce the effort required by five. “It allowed us to start gaining visibility, to have credibility with our partners, resellers, users”assures Lancelot Durant, the winner of the Lépine prize in 2023. For 123 years, the Paris Fair has transported visitors into the future thanks to its innovations, like the washing machine, the potato masher or even the iron to redo.
