Already out of the ECHL playoff picture, the Trois-Rivières Lions did not stop their efforts, however, winning 3-1 against the Reading Royals on Saturday afternoon at the Santander Arena.

Marc-André Bergeron’s men took their revenge on the team that mathematically eliminated them from the race on Friday by virtue of a result of 6 to 2. It is even with the help of a new goalkeeper that the Lions signed this victory.
In his first professional start, William Lavallière blocked 27 shots. This year, the 23-year-old Montrealer played with the Chambre HC de Terrebonne, a club in the Quebec Senior AAA Hockey League.
On offense, Cole Gallant scored his first goal in a Trois-Rivières uniform, during a five-on-three power play in the first period. Matthew Barron added the winning goal before the end of the engagement by hitting the target on a run with William Lemay.
Returning to the game after a short absence, captain Cédric Montminy scored his team’s third goal with a very precise wrist shot in the second period.
There are only six games left in this 2022-2023 Lions season. They will cross swords again with the Royals on Sunday afternoon.
