The joint historical presentation of The Orfeo and Vespers of the Virgin by Monteverdi by Capella Mediterranea and Leonardo García Alarcón at the Festival de Lanaudière will not take place.
Financial support for the tour not received on the European side which cannot be compensated here, according to the Festival management’s admission, forces us to cut back and cancel the presentation of the Vespers.
The program is replaced by a more modest project: Lamentation and Sospiriarias and madrigals by Monteverdi, D’India, Cavalli and Arcadelt sung by Mariana Flores, accompanied by five instrumentalists.
This concert on July 24 at 8 p.m. will no longer be held at Joliette Cathedral, but at the Purification Church in Repentigny.
The Orfeo will be presented as planned on Saturday, July 22, at the Fernand-Lindsay amphitheater.
