Léon Marchand returned to the microphone of France Télévisions on his magical evening at the Paris La Défense Arena, Wednesday, with a double gold in the 200m butterfly and the 200m breaststroke.
His word is rare, therefore extremely precious. Focused on his hunt for gold and records at the Paris Olympic Games, Léon Marchand nevertheless confided all his emotion, Wednesday July 31, to the microphone of France Télévisions. Author of a historic double, that no swimmer had ever achieved at the Olympic Games, with two successes in the same evening in the 200 m butterfly and the 200 m breaststroke, the 22-year-old young man seemed quite lucid about the feelings that were going through him.
“What a joy! It was my Christmas present today, he confided to the microphone of France Télévisions. I work every day for this, I get up early in the morning. There is a lot of suffering all year round, so this kind of thing, I make the most of it. They were two great finals, the 200m butterfly was really fun. I had a great race, I really thank [Kristof] Milak because we managed to push ourselves and do a crazy time at the end. The two podiums were crazy, so I’m very happy (…) The emotion is quite strong each time, it was important to live it to the fullest.”
