The family of Léon Gautier, who was one of the 177 French people who landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944, will file a complaint against a biography riddled with errors, France Bleu Normandie reported this Wednesday.

The biography is titled Léon Gautier, life after the war. However, it contains so many inaccuracies and even lies that the family of former commando Kieffer, who died last June, will file a complaint. The opinions on online sales sites, where the work can be obtained, are in the same direction and denounce the errors contained in the book, which invents, among other things, a detention in Germany.

The book’s lack of credibility is felt even in an extract where it encourages the reader to discover in its pages “a mystery waiting to be clarified: the tragic disappearance of Léon Gautier (…) exploring the possible reasons for his disappearance“, while the former soldier died at the age of 100 following a lung infection. Another surprising clue noted by the family: the photo on the cover shows a beret and an insignia upside down. “A story worthy of an American blockbuster, far from the humble and discreet personality of the man who chose to live in Normandye”, notes France Bleu Normandie.

As for the author, a certain Grace Shawn, it is impossible to find a trace. The possibility of an author aided by artificial intelligence is being studied.
